Why Join Trojan Speakers?
Research shows that public speaking is one of our biggest fears. The very prospect can terrify us, and even make us physically ill. Yet usually at some point in our lives, we will need to speak in front of others. It may be at a formal interview, giving a work presentation, chairing a difficult meeting, or making a humorous speech at a wedding. Sometimes, how we perform on these occasions can have a huge impact on our lives: it may even be a make or break situation.
There is no better way to conquer fears of public speaking than joining a Toastmasters' Club. Toastmasters is a highly successful organisation that started out as a single club in 1923, and has now grown to around 10,500 clubs around the world. The meeting format has been tried and tested thousands of times over and has proven to get results. Toastmaster members have turned themselves from quivering speaking wrecks into masters of their craft who grow to love performing. Image the difference that can make to all aspects of our lives.
At Trojan Speakers we get together every two weeks to practice and improve our speaking, communication and leadership skills. We have created a safe and supportive environment where we learn from each other. We take things at a pace that suits us individually – if we want to attend lots of meetings before performing a meeting role, that's okay. If we want to get started on the Toastmaster educational programme straightaway, that's okay too. We can perform as a speaker, or as a member of the audience, or both.
Our members are a mixed bunch so none of us can ever feel 'out of place'. We are made up of both men and women, a wide age range, diverse backgrounds, many professions, hugely different interests, and from all o ver the globe. Our common denominator is that we all want to become the best speakers we can, and have some fun along the way. You can attend one of our meetings at any time without booking. So give us a try and see for yourself what a difference Trojan Speakers could make to you.
